I’ll never forgive you
if my son turns out to be a quilter!
This is what my DH said to me late yesterday evening, after our son had gone to bed.
For those of you who do not know Glenn Andre, he is 9 years old and loves to create with his hands (and he is good at it!).
Why did my DH say things like that. I believe the picture speaks for itself. ;o)

Glenn is going to be an uncle to a boy late this month, and decided he wanted to make a quilt on his own, for the little baby boy.
The quilt is designed by Glenn, all the pieces are cut out by him. Here you can see he is stitching all the pieces. He’s got 5 days to go…..
I’ll post a picture of the quilt when it is accomplished.

Tell Glenn that my son is 10 and he loves to quilt too (I think he secretly thinks using the sewing machine pedal is like driving a car).

My boys and grandsons have all made creations with fabric and thread. My sons are grown men who have jobs which require creative thinking. I like to think that their boyhood experiences in stitching contributed to the way their minds work as well as their broad viewpoints. We know there is a whole lot more to the making of anything than just the finished project.

If your son would like to see photos of other boys making quilts, come to my weblog and check out "kids sewing".

My son has already sewed his own quilt last month. You can see his quilt on my blog. He´s is a 6 yo boy and his interests are shurly the technik and just a bit the fabrics. We have send the quilt to a kids competition - perhaps I can see his little quilt in Berlin in june at the "Patchwork Days".

Tell him there are a lot worse things his son could turn out to be. =) Men can be what they want now, just like women. My older son sews - he makes Renaissance costumes in his "spare" time. My younger son made quilt blocks and a lap quilt for his dad, but he turned out just fine. =) There's a beautiful quilt that was made by a former US president when he was younger, sitting with his dying mother.

Glenn is creative and it's wonderful that he uses his talent.

I bet your DH is secretly proud.

Well done Glenn and I hope to see the quilt finished, Maureen

Nina, I love what I see here. It is so good for a child to create something.
I am sure the receiver will treasure this gift. It is very special.
And your husband doesn't have to be worried, Dior and all the other great designers were also men :))

what does he mean "IF"??? I'd say by the looks of that photo he alrady "IS" a quilter! ;)

Looks like he is doing some machine quilting - something that I haven't even done YET! and I have been quilting for about 10 years. ~Bonnie in SE Texas
